Swords and shields painting log. (Update 13/06/2020)
« on: January 29, 2020, 10:18:28 PM »
Hello,

I just finished these two units of late Saxons. I hope to use them for the "hopefully" soon to be released Dark Ages ruleset from Footsore.

Now I am going to paint more Saxons and Vikings. I love Claymore castings Early HYW, V&V miniatures, Victrix miniatures and the Footsore miniatures, so that are the miniatures I like to paint. :-*

Hello,

I've started working on my Claymore Castings mini's. I am going to paint them in groups of three. 1 Man-at-arms and two soldiers.

This man-at-arms is called Alberik de Blauwe. He is accompanied by a pavasier and a crossbowmen.

(It seems that getting the colour of picture correct is way more harder than painting! :-O)

Thank you Atheling.

I am experimenting with contrast and lightning of the picture.

Do you think this one looks better?

The mini's seem to pop out better?

It's more dramatic, has more atmosphere.

Yes, if you can use photoshop, which I can't. You can really enhance the picture. Here is my last try with my Saxons. It really looks way over the top, but atleast the flag looks like it is when I hold the mini in my hand. ;-)

Photoshop drives me up the wall too at times so you are not alone!

I've recently been messing around with a programme called GIMP (yes, it's called GIMP!!!  lol ). It's a full suite but it's early days as far as experimenting with it goes but it's free and complete.

A group pic of my work of the last couple of months. I still need to do the shields and finish / drybrush the bases and paint the sides black.

Currently I am working on a couple more Claymore Castings Early HYW.
