Fabula: Rules System for Narrative Tabletop Skirmish
« on: February 13, 2020, 08:40:25 PM »
My brother and I are organising a small narrative gaming event in July, and we ended up writing a custom skirmish system for it. We combined elements from tabletop miniature skirmish games with pen&paper roleplaying games. It was designed to fulfil our requirements: to be easy to pick up, to support multiplayer games, and to keep math and dice-rolling from taking over the experience, so players can focus on the characters, story and atmosphere of the game. This rulebook was written with Dark Age of Sigmar (AoS28) in mind, but can easily be modified to accommodate specificities of many other fantasy settings.

The rules are free to download in PDF form. The current version is available here: Fabula V1.2.
There's also a dedicated Facebook group for sharing thoughts on the rules, battle reports, house rules, ideas, questions, unit profiles and any other material relevant for Fabula: HERE.

If you read or try out the rules we would be happy to hear your thoughts.

Interesting, thanks. I read it and try to fit it in a more Arthurian setting, but it looks good.

Really nice. Just printed it in brochure/'zine format at work and it looks great!
May I suggest you leave the second page blank, as the inside cover?

Thanks!

@area23 - sound advice. :) Since the document is still gonna be tinkered with, we haven't really prepared it for print properly yet.
