Worth a mention that the globe-headed Gold Emperor seen in TV21 and the Dalek Annual was the inspiration for the white version in "Remembrace of the Daleks" in 1988.I also suspect this was the starting point for the angular "Dalek font" which seems still to be the accepted way of showing Dalek speech.Some things just seem to stick. There is some influence I think on the Russell T Davies Grand Space Opera approach to Dalek stories--the TV21 stuff was way ahead of what a BBC budget could aspire to in the 60's.
I have seen complex and ingenious Dalek histories which seek to incorporate the comic strips and make them canonical--but that way lies madness...

I've been thinking about that Marsh Dalek and started looking around for images of the Spider Daleks... and came across this!

Not sure if it's too big, if I were to attempt one I think I'd want it to fit on a 40mm base. But I do like the way it still looks like a Dalek rather than any old sci-fi spider droid! Oooh, talking of driods I think I might take a look on flEaBay for some Star Wars miniatures... they must have knocked out some 'spider droids' at some point!

it looks big, but really, it's all leg... there isn't anywhere for the power unit... just looks cobbled together to me...

the commercially available sculpt is nicked quite blatantly from the recognised fan design...

there used to be loads of reference stuff to that blokes designs online, can't find any of it now, just other people lifting it for different stuff...

Thanks for the link AEG, think I'll wait till the Black Tree Daleks arrive then order a couple.

I think I'm becoming obsessed with all things from Skaro... was helping the kids clear up the garden this afternoon, packing away the toys and their ball pit when I suddenly found myself holding one of the hollow plastic balls and thinking to myself "this would make a great Void Ship!".

Is this wrong?

Yes, ball pool balls are usually too big, and more crucially, won't hold paint :~}

Thinking about it, the last time I was in Hobbycraft with the missus they had polystyrene balls of various sizes... I'm so far looking on having about fourteen daleks so I may go for a larger size anyway. Hmmm...

size is irrelevant...

Daleks have dimensional engineering... the DARDISes were bigger on the inside just like a TARDIS...

From that AEG can I assume that the Daleks had more than one Void Ship (I like DARDIS anme though!

I dare not ask... but what is a dalek? It's from Doctor Who? Right?

I have never seen the programme and I don't think it's been on the television here in Denmark in the past 20 years.
