But Capt. I HAD to go for hand to hand.
1) We wuz getting a pasting in the fire-fight
b) (Your point listing system  lol) Another chopper arrived overhead &
I did not think he was there to give an update on the rush hour traffic :D
3) Umpire Ian said no-one had ever done hand to hand in Spectre games.
I took that to be a challenge, but soon found out why no-one else had tried it.
Four of my guys went into just two Spetsnaz. One of his went done (lucky dice
throw from me) but all FOUR of mine ended face down in the dirt!!!!

Oh well.  I suppose one had to do what one had to do... ;)

As Ian was too busy going thro the rules, I thought I’d add more eye candy from the game.

My boys advancing into the city.

Pete’s boys advance into the town too.

Super architecture to battle over.

Where’s the bin man when you need him ?

JC’s team sneak up behind at BTR60, then try to remove their own foot with an rpg.  lol

Pete antiaircraft gun works well on an enemy APC.

Until the other APC gets revenge.

My boys still sneaking up on the downed aircrew.

Not exactly a “quiet day” downtown.

More trouble “incoming !”

Another Spectre game, this time Team Overwatch have been detailed for a hostage rescue mission from an insurgent compound on the edge of a town. Players were given a start-up brief which essentially boiled down to; insurgents holding member of middle east royal family hostage as bargaining chip for better weapons, royal family looks like it's going to agree, USA sends in the deniable operators. Key point in the game was that the hostage mustn't die, major oil delivery problem for the USA if their guys screw up, insurgents risk facing the wrath of a regional power who wouldn't normally react to their activities.
182737 - the hostage
193534 & 544 - the compound and town
184852 - Overwatch operators

The insertion was late so the Overwatch team ended up going in at dawn just as the market was setting up. The team was split between two players, Dave B & Pete S, Dave took the operators mainly armed with DMR's headed up by the team leader James Silva and planned to give covering fire from the roofs of houses near their insertion point. Pete took the team armed mainly with CQB weapons with the objective of breaching the compound and extracting the package, they started on the other side of town, again near a house for cover.
The insurgents had one team on alert patrolling the compound controlled by JC as El Masry and one resting inside the main house where the hostage was under the Chechen, Victor Abraham, this group was controlled by Bob. There was an option for additional insurgents to appear but as the game developed we dropped it in the interests of balance.
Photos of the dawn calm and civilians heading to the market.

Opening moves went well for the operators, both teams gained the roofs of local houses and were unseen by the insurgents. The support fire team got all four onto a house with roofs at different heights, the breach team stationed William Douglas & Alice Kerr on a roof just shy of the compound tower while Samantha Snow & Mike Vogel headed toward the rubbish skips piled against the compound wall.
111459 - Douglas & Kerr in place
111546 & 113020 - Dorothy Brady & Johnny Porter arriving and getting set
113706 - Silva & Jacob Stone in place

Now they were set it was time to clear the roofs before they got noticed and so Silva's team opened up, eliminating an lmg guy on the guardhouse roof and a guy in the tower, the other two shots went wide.
The insurgents wildly returned fire achieving little other than Jihadi Jack's RPG shot hitting the side of the building Brady & Porter were on, knocking Brady unconscious. The shooting did however send El Masry racing up the steps of the tower to steady his fighters.
