The insurgents on the roof and tower now became a bit of a bullet magnet as Silva's team poured lead into them and Douglas & Kerr joined in. Amidst the lead throwing we did have the obligatory comedy moment of Jihadi Jack realising he had no reloads and so running around shouting "where's the ammo" even though there were boxes in plain site on the roof  lol
122322 - casualties in the tower, including El Masry
122331 - Kerr & Douglas
122327 - Jihadi Jack running in circles

Time to breach the compound.
Vogel led the way but as he was doing a bit of skip diving (well that's what we all said  lol ) Junaid Hussain spotted him and put him down. Revenge was quickly exacted by Douglas and Snow was into the compound.
Silva's team kept up the cover fire eliminating new targets who obligingly climbed into view, including the gunner from the technical who was unarmed  lol

Now it was game on.
Ibraham had his men start hustling the hostage towards the vehicle park outside while he and the rest played cat and mouse, first with Snow and then with Kerr and Douglas as they left their position and followed on.
The up shot of all this was a lot of gunfire and grenade rolling at close quarters which saw several insurgents downed before Kerr was killed in a shoot out with Ibrahim who himself fell victim to Snow, who then got caught in the blast of her own grenade  :'(

With the sounds of gunfire ringing in their ears the rest of Ibraham's group got the hostage outside and prepped for exfil. They were accidently aided by Jihadi Jack who commandeered the technical and crashed through the gate with the gunner hanging on for dear life - he didn't hang on for long as he was popped by Douglas stationed outside the main building. This distraction allowed the insurgents to bundle the hostage into a car and exchange shots with Porter who went down.

End times were coming now.
Silva's team now left their vantage point and headed for the compound - probably a bit too late. Douglas, hearing the engines of the cars start up headed for the better cover of the external stairs to shoot out the vehicle tyres - alas it was not to be  :( Peyman Maadi, who had survived the internal gunfight, rounded the corner and put a burst into Douglas' back  :'(
151522 & 151527 - Silva's team on the move
151833/835/844 - death of Douglas

Column ho!
Two cars sped out of the compound taking fire from Silva's group as they went, which did slow the vehicles, but remembering the the very clear instruction of no harm to the hostage, the cease fire order was given and the radio call for evac went in.

As a mission it was a fail and over half of the Overwatch team were casualties. On the bright side (and there needed to be one!), two local leaders had been killed along with twelve insurgents.
As a game it went well I thought; the tactical plan of the two players was sound and worked well but once the fire support team ran out of targets the breach team (one man down) were on their own and that was the time for the other team to move up. The insurgents were constantly reacting so planning was a bit of a bust  lol but they did manage to weather the storm and come out smiling.
From a rules perspective the superior skills of the operators seemed to accurately reflect the advantage skilled professionals have over more numerous opponents but with enough of a risk for things to go wrong. Where the game came slightly unstuck was unfamiliarity; although the Overwatch team all had comms they didn't use it which might have helped with getting help to the breaching team before it went pear shaped, they also had the full bag of tricks (smoke grenades, stun grenades, silencers, etc) available to them but in the excitement of the game that all got forgotten.

Forget the western propaganda.
Here is the truth.

We were entertaining a foreign VIP in our compound.
He was enjoying our hospitality.
We posted guards on the rooftops and around the compound as we had heard whispers that the western powers were not happy with our hosting.

Western “bin men” approach our compound.

We were happy with our reception party locations.

Our men were not happy with the special forces skip divers.
One was removed from the rota.

Our RPG operator “successfully” took out opposition players, firing on us from other rooftops, even though he wasn’t aiming at them  lol

We formed a “team hug” around our VIP visitor.
This team hug was called a  tight security ring.

The unwanted visitors breached our compound walls, and started crashing our party.

They moved from room to room, but throwing grenades was not their strongest asset, as their grenade bounced back, and exploded at their own feet. OH DEAR.

Our VIP then joined us for an exciting road trip.

Cheers Ian (nice cake)

Just to add some pictures.

791 & 788 = Target compound
789 = The Market setting up
792 = Tower guards under JC's watchful eye.
793 = Insurgents try sniping with an RPG. "Did you hit him?"
"I hit the building & the building hit him!"
794 & 5 = Into the compound
796  Grenade throwing inside the building goes badly...TWICE !!!

It was down hill from then on, but the cake was lovely. :-*

Now, why would the host of that party feel the need to guard the joint so well?  Was it to keep interlopers out, or guests in?  My vote is for the latter.

Nice report, though, even if the end result was sub-optimal... ;)
