Ouch!  That was a painful lesson: don't bring pikes to a gun fight.  ;)

To be honest Wellington had the right idea, hide behind the hill then when the British crest it charge them with the pike. (I know he didnt have pike armed troops but you get the idea) used well they are useful and gave me some ideas on how to use Jacobites for my forthcomign 1745 project.

Alexander Suvorov and Sir Charles ‘No Flint’ Grey too had great faith in cold steel and demonstrated its efficacy often enough.  I suppose the trick is to get into a position where you can close fast and hard.  I’m going to try it out with Rebels and Patriots.

Indeed but against a numerically superior force with the same level of trainign an fgreater firepower I think you could argue it was foolhardy.

Great battle report. I will have to do more research into this conflict.

Looks good!

Worth mentioning that Eureka have cast up the start of their 28mm range of British for the French revolutionary wars. Command, centre companies, grenadiers and light bobs all in advancing, marching, loading and firing poses. Saw them in the flesh about a week back. Very impressive and a good match for their French.
