Hi Marco,
I also have started to look into this and the earlier Pequot War, 1637-1638
Fortunately Happy Wanderer who posts on this forum has done an excellent blog series on King Philips War:
https://agrabbagofgames.wordpress.com/2017/03/25/flintlock-tomahawk-king-phillips-war-1675-76/Covers everything that someone starting a new project would look into. The Book By Schulz seems to get the most thumbs up on the Wargaming side of things. Even some rules amendments to game this with Pikemans Lament and Musket and Tomahawks (2nd ed update pending).
May I also respectfully suggest to check out Wargames Illustrated 383 which covers general background and a specific engagement from the earlier part of the war and
Armies of Early Colonial North America 1607-1703 by Gabriele Esposito
And also refer you to Osprey titles which cover Woodland Indians and India Tribes of the New England Frontier.
Regards.
Andy.
