Thanks!
I've got to say I'm really taking a liking to painting 15mm, you can get great results with quite little effort. T
he Battlesuit was painted as a test model, trying to apply the same scheme as the infantry, but turned out quite ok.

First actual Marine platoon finished!

This would be a bit heavier than a normal outfit, with three squads of Grenadiers instead of mixing Grenadiers with regular Marines, but shipping has not been smooth lately...

Really nice work there. You have done those figures justice with a great paint job.

Great work,
Welcome to the 15mm scifi world.
With the amount of detail 15mm have nowadays they have become the way to go as regards to cost, space and the time needed to paint them.
Keep it up

I've come across a new rule set, that had quickly jumped up to the top of my candidates, so I wrote a bit about it.

Interesting write up. So From Ashes is not a skirmish game, but more squad based?

Yes, definitely. The basic Unit is a multi base, with 3 infantrymen to a base being common (but 2 and 4 models to a base happens).
A squad range from a single Unit (in the case of command Squads) to hordes of 10+ Units (Dominion Vanguard).
The number of individual models are abstracted away by having one stat line per Unit, where there isn't always a 1:1 mapping between a stat and a single model (e.g a Unit of Pathfinders has 2 shots with their rifles, despite 3 infantrymen being modeled on the base).

A basic game of 300 Req per side is about a Platoon with some support, so I'd call this a Platoon/Company level game.
It plays a little bit like Bolt Action/Gates of Antares, Epic Armageddon and Halo Ground Command got thrown into a blender, and the bits that floated to the top got put into these rules (which means it's right up my alley... )

I keep forgetting that these need to be treated differently than 28 mm minis, but it's hard...

The Fifteen's Lament.  I feel ya, brother!

Got a lot of figs that are muddier than they need to be, even after five years after making the switch.

Yes... Then again, they are similar enough to my old 10 mm that I can apply similar techniques, and these days it gets even easier now that there is a standard to follow with GWs Contrast Paints (Vallejo Inks worked well enough, albeit with a more limited selection).

I'll be trying out a 'contrast only' approach on my light infantry, see if  it works out; initial attempts seems promising.

Thanks!

I'm pushing forward, but with the 'rona delaying everything I've only recently gotten my latest delivery from Khurasan, ordered in early March (no shade on Jon, he's provided excellent service, sending out replacements as the first order got lost, it's just taken time).

I've got a second platoon in the works now, and who knows how far the rabbit hole of From Ashes I'll go. The models are really crisp...
