Whitehall, we have a problem.
« on: July 24, 2009, 06:21:59 PM »
With each expedition breaking further into the uncharted vastness of Venus it was becoming abundantly clear that the Ministry was going to have to send far more troops off world than originally planned. At each turn more and more alien native enclaves were being discovered and it could not be left to the other foreign powers on the planet such as the pesky Prussians to martial the Venusians.

Action was needed but what? The transport ships ordered by the War Cabinet were well ahead of schedule and recruitment was far exceeding expectation – it seems the chance to explore outer space appeals to the working classes as much as it does to members of proper society. But if we take them there, where are we going to house them?

All was not lost as Ministers recalled an Estate Agent from Middlesex. Ever since the first expedition had been announced this chap had been lobbying anyone and everyone in the vain attempt of gaining a position on any of the departing craft. This gent felt he had a very strong argument for being included on a mission but having a hyphenated surname and claiming to have once glimpsed Her Majesties carriage on Teddington high street did not go very far to counter his obvious lack of martial prowess.

So it was that the Colonial Residential Accommodation Procurement unit was born.

And his reluctant assistant Pvt. Winston Bago

And a group shot of the whole C.R.A.P. detachment

very nice!

what make they are?

I am afraid that your Colonial Residential Accommodation Procurement unit will need lots of scientists: geologists (or is it better venuslogists?? or may be planetologists), topographers, civil engineers, artizans, builders and a lot of lots  of bricks!
is Whitehall ready to bear the finance of all necessary actions?
is Royal Geographical Society to man all expeditions required?
is the manpower left on planet earth enough to administrate the whole Empire and defend in case those ***** prussians try to assault the empire?
