Yes I agree great looking game  :-* :-* :-* :-*

In my view, the Tactical Painter game reports are only just behind getting to play a game yourself. I think a part of that is that both players seem to be both good players. I learn something from every game, because the narration takes me into the decision process.

Just read #4, great stuff! That was one the Americans won't forget in a hurry.
I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.

Jolly good work! The idea with the broken track link is top notch and very clever indeed!

After German success in the last game they have the opportunity to mount a counterattack. While there’s little chance they have the force to push the Americans back, what they can do is disrupt their drive forward. Nice little action. You didn't mention what it did to the morale for both sides, was it unchanged from the beginning?

We forgot to do it at the end of the game, so we will do it prior to the next game. US don’t track the opinions of men or CO, other than the confidence of Col Goode, who will become very cautious with any setbacks. As this was technically a US victory that won’t be a negative for the Col.

Germans have lost contact with their CO, so his opinion is unchanged. So we only need to roll for the men’s opinion. Casualties were very light and less than the Americans so there shouldn’t be too much change there.

Having beat off the German counterattack the Americans now return to clear their right flank near Cardonville. They were mauled badly by the Germans at the first attempt, could they do a better job at the second attempt? Wow that was grim! The happy days of Blitzkrieg are well and truly over for the Germans...

Gripping stuff! Im really enjoying your AAR's and the plentiful photographs are an all round win and an inspiration.

I sympathise with your lack of luck with the dice, but I too thought your original deployment was sound - the American firepower is a thing to behold.

What a shame High Command couldn't have scraped up some Panzer Grenadiers from somewhere...

Those big US squads are very resilient, and throw a respectable amount of firepower, especially when they are remembering to re-roll ones!

Watching this, I'm thinking that the Sicilian campaign I was contemplating could be very one-sided for the Italian forces.

On the other hand, your dice rolling at the end there seems to have let you down badly, even assuming you weren't facing an opponent with a seemingly uncanny ability to roll double phases.

It just confirms I really don't like the mortar barrage rules though.

Thanks again for the trouble to put together the AAR that we can all enjoy as vicarious gaming! Great looking figures and terrain. It's the next best thing to being there.

So we reach the final map with the campaign in the balance. Can the Germans stall the Americans for one more game and snatch a campaign victory or will the American steamroller prove unstoppable?
