I would guess most of us would be in awe of your finished work and clueless as to the figurehead being missing. I would assume your replacement will easily pass muster.

Nothing to be in awe about. It's just technical painting really. Line after line after line... my painting skills are pretty average.

I'll try to post a before and after photo. But, yea, in the grand scheme of things, I don't thing most folks would take much notice.

So here it is my scratched built figurehead. I used 4 tiny pieces of metal and then bathed them in superglue.

The top is supposed to be a crown not a head. Use your imagination!

Okay, it looks like Sh@t!

Well... the bow needs lots of work. Time to get on with it.

Given the eyesight of your average opponent (or mine) I would say that figurehead will pass muster as a crown just fine.

If I look real close it looks like Robby the Robot!

Anyway, here is the bow complete with a shot as close as I could get to show the figurehead:

Looks like I may need another coat of Apricot to give the bow a sharper look. I want back and gave the gun ports another stroke of red to try to get them to pop a bit more and then another coat of varnish. I think the next shot should show the entire hull finished. Well see.

Here is where she stands now (the port side is the better of the two but the lighting wouldn't let me take a shot of it):

If I had to choose, of the British 1st Rates, I think the Royal Sovereign is the better model. I have ordered it and a box of French Navy 3rd Rates of Renown. My feeling in this project is I only want models that actually have names and I'm going to see if I can mass produce the 3rd rates. I also ordered the Dark Black Seas Spare sails as between the light and the dark, I prefer the dark personally.

Anyway, the hull is almost finished...
