How many people are expected to enter this?

we have four entries so far. Hope we'll get a bit more.

If mine isn't in by the 5th or so, send an angry PM to me demanding an entry...
I told you so. You damned fools.

It's not very good, though...

 :?

Well, I must say, I'm quite disappointed by the delay of the competition.

After reading a post by you, Alex, on the "Let's build something" thread in which I read a bit of disappointment in the amount of participation of this competition, I decided to support the Contest and in so doing put a lot of time, effort and a bit of money into making this deadline.

Next week I am going to be off on my vacation, the 8 whole days I get off every year, and I don't really anticipate accessing the web very much if any.

I'm dead tired right now... it's a three day weekend here in Spain and my cafe was packed the whole day and worked well tonight as well.

I'm withdrawing from the contest and will probably post my "tale" on a normal thread.

But I really think when ya'll say this is THE FINAL DEADLINE you should bear in mind that you are effecting other people, and in this case someone who went out of his way... actually a long way, to help make this contest a success.

Alex will obviously reply to this. Let me just say I think you are expecting too much.

RR, I can understand your frustration in this but bear in mind the fact that the people who run these things do it from the goodness of their hearts. They have lives too and just as your busy weekend in the cafe has left you dog tired, surely they have the right to postpone because of events that impact on them. Having a dig at them can only lead to prospective black marks in assessing your tale.  ::)
Cheers,

Surely if the deadline is postponed, that means you can still post your entry when you originally intended and not suffer any detrimental effects? You may not be able to follow things online, but your entry will still be in and stand the same chance of winning as if there was an earlier cut-off point. Just have a look at the results when you get back. I would understand if the deadline was brought forward at short notice - that would be a pain - but in these circumstances I can't see the problem.

Or have I missed something obvious here?  ???

Well, actually I was expecting a contest to begin.

Winning or losing... shrug.

Like I say, I'll be way gone on vacation and anticipate limited internet access, so nope, won't be following the contest... given it happens.

So I'll just bow out, cause, after all the work I did on the entry, I would like to post it now.

Cheers

Ray, I understand your disappointment. I'm not at home since two days and not able to get the contest starting. My internet access is very limited at the moment. I know, it's only my problem and I apologize to you and other participants. I can only say, my life circumstances are a bit unforeseeable momentary and it's something what I'm not able to change.

I will be back home tonight and will start the contest. If you don't mind, I would like to put your entry to the competition, too.

Hi Alex,

I know you have a difficult situation and I was not meaning to try to pressure you into starting the contest.

Been a long year and a hard summer and I'm beat.  This was the last push and without some time off I just can't continue much longer.

Really enjoy the forum (my favorite place on the internet), so I like to support you, this great place and the super people here as much as possible.  I do, however, post on a number of other forums and thought folks would get a little chuckle out of the movie.  So I guess the real disappointment was because I would have had to wait until I got back from my vacation to post it.

Feel free to start the contest at your leisure, please, cause I know the real world is far more important than any contest.  Be happy to participate but as I say, when you have the time.

Hope you are keeping well.
