From the aforementioned "Fuzzy Wuzzy" by Brian Robson (not the footballer
). This little book really is crammed with excellent little details. A book like this on every campaign I'm interested in would be a godsend:
1884 Suakin CampaignCavalry10th Hussars
19th Hussars
Infantry1st Batt Royal Highlanders (42nd Foot - Black Watch)
3rd Batt King's Royal Rifle Corps (60th - KRRC)
1st Batt York and Lancaster Regt.
1st Batt Gordon Highlanders (75th)
2nd Batt Royal Irish Fusilers (89th)
Royal Marine Light Infantry (RMLI)
Artillery6 Battery, 1 Brigade, Scottish Division (Garrison)
M Battery, 1 Brigade, Royal Artillery
Royal Marine Artillery
Engineers26th (Field) Company, RE
Interestingly he makes no mention of the Naval Brigade in this particular appendix (they manned Graham's six machine guns in the first campaign) or the Mounted Infantry (formed from regiments from the Army of Occupation of Egypt - KRRC, Black Watch, Gordons and Royal Sussex), but he does acknowledge them in the main text of the book. An oversight, I suppose.
