BEF funnies
« on: April 06, 2020, 02:20:36 AM »
Finally completed some BEF funnies:

AEC Matador tow for 69th Medium
Artillery Regiment.
The BEF slowly nears completion
I’ve got a very old, second-handed, already built Airfix kit. A pity since I would like a driver in.

Guy truck towing a 2pdr AT gun.  13th Anti-Tank Regiment, RA, 2nd Infantry Division.
A really awful truck kit. Can’t remember if EWM or SHQ. But I needed some truck diversity in my BEF.
On the contrary, the Zvezda 2pdr gun is a superb kit.
Will add some mounted truck later.

Light Dragon artillery tractor from 2nd Royal Horse Artillery, GHQ troops.
Superb Millicast kit with simon soldiers driver.
Timmy the tiny (the driver) was know  for his huge size and strength amongst it fellow troopers.

Morris Commercial from 7th Northumberland Fusiliers, 3rd Corps. Carrying some vital Vickers HMG support (was an MG btn.)
Kit is an excellent, now oop, MMS one.
The difference in truck kit  quality between MMS and the rest is abismal.

And last for the day. Morris CDSW towing a 18pdr from 98th field Artillery regiment, BEF GHQ troops.
Both gun & tractor are nice old SHQ kits.
(The 98th could have carried 18/25’s, but i want an 18pdr!)

Hope you like them.
Best regards,

Diego

Thanks for that.
The vehicles on the blog look great and just the right colours- the pictures you have posted here look quite different (lighter shades) so I guess it is down to lighting and photography.
Thanks for sharing the 'how to'

Well, I´ve got busted by my own guide! Yes, these look brighter. You are right. Maybe a combo of:

1) Mea Culpa, I´ve used much more MIG G3 paint on the higlights steps and overdo it a little.
2) Yes, these photos have a very bright artificial light. The ones on the guide have natural light.

But I´ve also always tend to paint evreything a little "lighter". Remember these are wargaming toys, and at the usual distance they don´t look so bright. It is called the "scaling effect" or something like that I think.
Perhaps I should apply an additional green-brown filter to tone them a further down.
Thanks a lot for your comments. Always a pleasure to receive suggestions on how to make my BEF look better!

Best Regards,

Diego
