With the quarantine on my son is home from school and my wife is working from home although I am still working we have a lot of family time on our hands.  My son is not a big fan of fantasy settings but my wife and I have played D&D for years.  We actually met at a D&D game.  In order to do something fun and somewhat educations I cooked up this non fantasy historic campaign. The game report can be found here: https://ironworkersminiatures.blogspot.com/2020/04/blew-cotes-raid-on-pleasant-pig-d-5e.html

Ha! What a great idea! I'd thought of using Early Renaissance mini's but never thought of extending D&D into the ECW era  8)

Episode 2 of my family English Civil War D&D campaign is up: https://ironworkersminiatures.blogspot.com/2020/04/cavaliers-and-roundheads-was-blew-cotes.html

I changed the campaign name.  I know I'm using some odd miniature choices but my ECW collection is small and it's hard to get miniatures these days.  I've tried to use the best proxies I have.

Got episode 3 up.  This is more of a straight up raid and skirmish: https://ironworkersminiatures.blogspot.com/2020/04/cavaliers-and-roundheads-episode-3.html

Looks like great fun.  You have a very fine collection of minis.  I could see the introduction of a witchfinder and witches (they needn't be real witches - they might just think they are !).

Episode 4 is finally up.  Had some delays as I have recently moved into a much nicer place with a stunning game room that we are currently working on.  The report is a little rough as I had forgotten a lot of details.  We've also had Episode 5 in the campaign which I hope to have up in a few days.  I've also got a lot of new miniatures coming with an order from Brigade games and a ECW started Army from Warlord on the way.  Lots of painting to do!

Check out the report here: https://ironworkersminiatures.blogspot.com/2020/05/cavaliers-and-roundheads-episode-4-how.html

Great combo of self reliance and ingenuity to use D&D to get your ECW/Renaissance minis on the table with your family.

It works better than I thought it would with the sub classes for fighters and rogues.  I haven't even done much to make it "historic" in nature other than taking out the supernatural elements.

I put the latest episode up here:  http://ironworkersminiatures.blogspot.com/2020/05/cavaliers-and-roundheads-episode-5.html

I hope to have another game by this coming Sunday but we might have a slight delay to paint miniatures and make some new terrain.
