Grey Aliens miniatures
« on: July 28, 2009, 12:23:57 AM »
Hey guys,

anyone know of any good grey aliens miniatures?

I want to start a project based on Destroy all Humans so they have to look very typical. The best I have found are Alternative Armies' 15mm ones. But I want 28mm really.

I have always thought the Griffin Miniatures ones in 28mm were the best...  not sure how easy they are
to come by these days however.

Those are nice. Shame about the guns, I'm looking for more classic raygun style guns.

Just found the Brigade Games ones, which are perfect.

ANyone know where I can get them in the UK?

North Star used to import minis from Brigade Games. I'd ask Nick if he still does and if he could get the Greys when he next ordered.

If I were you I would order direct, I ordered some AC57 figures, the shipping was reasonable and I had them in the UK 5 days after ordering, far quicker than I have recieved many UK orders. They provide an excellent, friendly service.

Yep Brigades are very nice and would be my choice. I think Matakishi has some GZG ones whihc look good too.  Black cat bases have a small range which would work as well

I ordered my Brigade invaders directly from Brigade.  The shipping to Ireland was a bit on the high side.  That said, the figures were fun and very quick to paint so I got over it :)

I used Destroy All Humans as reference too, but I went with the green skinned type rather than the Gray look.

My tabletop standard finished guys are here and here if you want to take a look.

I havent seen the Black Cat figures in person but I think that they look great.  They would be a good choice too I think.

Those are nice too.

I've managed to get hold of some Brigade ones though.

Maybe I'll get both eventually. I'll see how my rules play.
The idea will be that it is made for Participation at shows.

The scenery will be American farmland.

The players will play as a Grey alien team. Each player will get 2 greys and a flying saucer.
The aim is to abduct Cows and any humanoids you can (there will be Rednecks, US Infantry and FBI). You will get more points depending on what you abduct.
You must take your hostages to the flying saucer to be abducted. The flying saucer has no other use in the game, but can be damaged by locals so players should be careful as to where they put them.
Models must be alive to be abducted, i.e. they can be knocked out.

You cannot shoot your friends, if you wound one of them, the miniature that caused the wound will explode.

The game plays until a certain number of turns have run through or when everything has been abducted. The player with the most points wins the game.

I gotta sit down and write the rules though, I imagine it will involve event cards as well...

Sounds like fun.  What do you intend to use as saucers?

I have been looking for a quick, cheap and easy way to get a couple of saucers roughly the equivalent of in scale cars on the table (to go with the nearly completed scratch built tripods).  Maybe you have the solution.

Maybe one of these, from Brigade Games, without the legs?

… Or one of those from Blue Moon Manufacturing?

A CANADIAN local hobby store with a small selection of historical wargames miniatures (mainly from Warlords). They also have a great selection of paint and hobby accessories from Vallejo, Army painter, AK Interactive, Green Stuff World and more.; https://www.kingdomtitans.ca/us/

I bought some little cheap ice creams from Tesco that have some very cool saucer-like lids when 2 are stuck together.
Mine are very simple, but I'm not bothered as it is for participation which is usually just kids.

Arguably making saucers out of readily available and sometimes recognisable scrap items makes them more authentic (in B movies SFX terms) I feel.  It is the sort of straightforward (and crucially for me, inexpensive) solution that I am looking for.

The Brigade and Blue Moon stuff is great but they cost a lot for things that will only ever get played with a handful of times.

When you get your grays and saucers ready be sure to post up some photos :)

Apparently the original codes have been re-packaged as a 10-man boxed set:

I lean towards the Zombiesmith ones myself- The pricing on them was good, although I thought the casting quality left something to be desired...
