Oh, wow.  That is bloody gorgeous as a full piece.  That's what I was looking for, thank you.  Now I can parse where the rest of it goes without getting lost.

I love all the various entries as I wish I could create all of them... but this remains my favorite. Even more impressive in this shot.  I think I missed the dead guy in the water in front of the vampire before.  Hard to appreciate these entries remotely.

Thanks Bloggard :)

and this 'au naturel' photo, showing, as it does, a terrain board that most of us I'm sure would be very happy to get anywhere close to in terms of modelling etc, also underlines how much art there is in the 'narrative' photos preceding it.

they take it a whole step or two further up, and I hope that hobby publications move towards this quality in time to come.
lighting, framing etc is still lacking in many commercial efforts where figures in terrain are featured.

Have to agree with that. I've only just seen this thread. What beautiful work! Otherworldly and very atmospheric. Superb.

Yep,Samuel Palmer has informed my style ever since I discovered him, in my 20s,I see him as a romantic  realist, obviously he was of that rather loose term a romantic, that or a symbolist  ;)
