Primal Fantasy using Pulp Alley

My worst skill is remembering to take pictures during the game. Because of that I only have three pictures. My goal is to do better. I don't have pictures of all of the characters but I will try to describe them when relevant.

Back Story:
Two adventuring parties converge on an ancient site rumored to be a ritual location where powerful magic items were created. These pylons are used to access the raw energies from the earth preparing to transfer into items to allow powerful items to be made. The pylons take a long time to charge so there is only enough energy to create one item at a time. There is no chance at peaceful negotiations.

Lars Ingretch, Star Seeker in the elde tongue, is the leader of the Kholardere Scholars, a band of like minded individuals dedicated to restoring the golden era of the Jomavere Empire. He is learning everything he can about using the energies of nature to power his spells. His right-hand-man is Teska Diwen, a warrior dedicated to restoring the Fighting Orders that were the hallmark of the ancient empire. Relearning the lost styles of fighting might mean the difference between surviving in the savage world that keeps degrading into barbarism and death.

The rest of the group consists of Kialore, the elven hunter. Xergle the Skrag guide is leading his small crew of wasteland exiles. Mulipau is a Furfoot footpad, because you never know when you need more specialized skills. 1 leader, one sidekick, three level 2 and three level one characters total.

Sheekan is the leader of the Perkan Invaders. They have vowed to plunder and raid any town, settlement, or ruins they can find to acquire anything powerful to use to conquer the elde lands. They will not allow anyone or anything to stop them. His second is El-Hurran the cannibal. He only eats his enemies to gain their power. Or when he is hungry.

Fillmore is the chained servant that they slap around to get the information that they need. Fillmore is an Associate and is not a physical model. He used to be a scribe from one of the small towns they pillaged in the past. He is kept close. Orson is a Skrag of monstrous size even for her species. She inspires fear in anyone who catches sight of her and will run away before their brain can even understand what they are seeing. It is better this way. 1 leader, two side-kicks and one associate.

Scenario:
The Pylons of Magnatar are said to reach deep into the earth, sipping magical energies from the center of the world. This power can be absorbed to transfer into items of high quality in order to create wondrous magic. Who wouldn't want that? There are four minor pylons and a large pylon in a central location that allows one to complete the ritual.

Each league will seek out the minor pylons to draw magical power to empower one item of their choice. The first league to accrue 10 points from the minor plot points, the minor pylons, will then be able to use the major plot point, the large pylon. After completing the peril and plot point challenge, draw a fortune card. The number on the bottom left of the card is added to your accrued total.

1. You cannot complete the same plot point twice until all 4 of the minor plot points are drawn from once. Each league’s gain is kept track of separately.

2. There are 7 wolves protecting the large pylon. The tall grasses are where they live and do not like trespassers. Anyone coming within 6" will be attacked. They are level 2 characters.

3. Once the 4 minor pylons are drawn from, giant beetles feeding on the pylon's power will push out from under the ground and attack the closest characters. They are level 2 characters. Place d6 beetles randomly around the minor pylons in base to base with anyone on the pylon.

4. The game will last 8 turns with the chance to lengthen the game with reward and fortune cards.

Scenario Outcome:
Lars' league had a relatively easy time on this quest. That is until they kept drawing 1's from each pylon. At the end of turn 8 his league had 9 total points. Not enough to charge the large pylon. He drew 2-two-point cards and 5-one-point cards. Luck is fleeting although his league has done better than Sheekan's.

They drew a total of 3 points after some bad time in combat trying to fight for the small pylons. Even the great Orson had a bad time being stalled in several fights.

Picture 1
Lars and Sheekan face off. Lars bests Sheekan and he will seek revenge later with the same outcome happening again. Revenge will have to come another day. Skrag#3 is a level 1 outcast from Xergle's crew. He dodges the only hit from El-Hurran's brawl attack. This allows him to get away with an easy minor plot point on his turn after dodging out of the brawl.

Picture 2
Teska found a pylon unchallenged. Of course with the tangled thorns and obsidian rocks in the area he had to work his way through the deadly terrain. He passed all perils and breezed the challenge. His fancy footwork came in handy for this task.

Picture 3
While they were lucky speeding their way through the perils and challenges this meant they had to face extra danger. The hangry beatles cost them much needed time to stay ahead of their enemies. Ultimately they destroyed the beatles.

No picture
Mulipau and two of the Skrag crew help fend off Orson for three turns. Malipau danced around throwing daggers staying far away from being charged. The ‘crew’ blocked Orson from charging Mulipau two different times. Mulipau will need to offer blessings in their name at the nearest temple for their sacrifice. Whatever their names were. I think #2 and #4.
