Black Army Update: Now have a caster for the Euzkadi
« on: July 30, 2009, 05:56:02 AM »
Hey, gang -

Figured this would be a good place to put this.

If things go according to plan, the M36 Trubbia-Naval Euzkadi will shortly be entering casting/molding/production. Here are some pictures of Tobi's master. For those unfamiliar, the M36 is the iconic Basque "tankette" (well, it's sort of large for a tankette, but technically that's what it is) of the Spanish Civil War. Three man crew, sometimes carried four, armed with two MMGs.  Could be useful for a wide variety of settings, but I'll be using mine to support my Basque Republicans.

I'm not sure precisely when it'll be ready to ship out, but it's very likely it could be some point in August, September at the -very- latest (again, if everything holds).

The Euzkadi will likely run $20US, or two for $35.

If this is something that might interest you, could you do me a favor and drop me a line? I'm not asking for prepayment or anything, but it would help me to determine how many of these things to get cast up initially (the resin molds have a relatively limited lifespan, and that way I'll know how many to have cast up, how many molds to have made, yadda yadda.)

At any rate, thanks for your support, guys. Much appreciated.

-Doc

Thanks, guys. Duely noted for those who have posted here or dropped an email so far

I'm told the molds will handle up to thirty castings each. How many molds I have made depends upon initial interest and how many I can afford. So far, about a third of the initial run is spoken for.

If anyone else wants one or two or whatever, let me know (at your convenience, no rush). Again, not asking for money at this point, just trying to get a handle on how many to cast from the first pressing. Thanks for the compliments, Willie - the lions share of the work (ie: the actual sculpting) was done by my good friend, Tobsen Nash, over at Tobsen77.

The next vehicle will in all likelyhood be the German Erhardt Armored Car of WW1 fame:) More SCW vehicles are very likely, however, and I've got some RCW stuff on the list too. Any suggestions or links would be greatly appreciated.

lol

I'll definitely let you know when it's close to ready, Traveller. It is going to happen, but I don't have a date on it yet. :)

Fantastic shots, Traveller. Hope you don't mind if I borrow them to send on as references.

I'm amazed nobody's done this one yet in 28mm (or 15, as far as I know). The only example I'm aware of is a very nice piece from Reverisco in 1/72.

So far as I know, there were only around forty of these, but they saw very active service. 19 of them were built post war, and some even ended up in the Middle East, Asia, etc. I definitely think it's a worthy subject. Of course, if we're talking armored cars, here are a couple I'd like to see, as well:

I'll probably eventually try to get some made, but I suspect they wouldn't be quite as popular as the German models.
Still... :)

I am definitely interested in two Euzkadi and an Erhardt.
Any inter war armour and aeroplanes interest me, particularly commercial airliners and mail planes in 1/48 to 1/56.

Stark, duely noted on the Euzkadis. I'll add two to the number to to be cast. And thanks for the support with the Ehrhardt... again, not sure when that'll be ready, but Tobi's agreed in principal to sculpt it after he's done some of his own projects. (And he's working on some really cool stuff, I must say.)

Thanks, Bandit. Glad you like them:)

I have a friend who is Basque, and he's the one who originally introduced the Euzkadi to me years ago. It's always fascinated me.

Here are some more shots from the same book as the above images (German Uniforms, Insignia & Equipment 1918-1923 by Charles Woolley).  I guess you have checked the landships website:

A real goldmine!
