I watched it. Enjoyed it, but was frustrated with the end of the series. If left too much hanging. It seemed like the series ended an episode or two early.
They might have told the audience at some point that a Barkskin was another name for a tree feller, a lumberjack.
The language and accent shifting was a little odd as well.
But it is rare to see any story that early set in the Americas and rare to see they French as the victims of the British aggression (well the Hudson Bay company).
The gun fights were cool, shoot rifle, drop it, charge with blade, Pistol is a save roll. I don't remember seeing anyone reloading.
