Varnish over metallic colours?
« on: April 30, 2020, 09:17:23 PM »
I have painted my very first set of soldiers, but matt varnish completely ruined all metallic effects.

I am going to repaint elements that suppose look like metal and my question is, is there some varnish or anything else that will protect the surface and will not ruin metallic effects? Or is it better just to leave those ‘metallic’ places unvarnished?

Use a gloss, semi-gloss, or satin varnish over the metals?  May need a brush on if your matte is a spray.  Make sure the brush on varnish is compatible with the spray.
