Pricing announcement (Commercial)
« on: May 04, 2020, 04:30:52 PM »
The UK Government has removed the 20% Value Added Tax (VAT) which had previously applied to sales of e-books across the UK and EU.

The Ministry of Gentlemanly Warfare is pleased to be able to pass on the resulting saving to its UK and EU players.

Our digital distributor, the splendid SnM Stuff, has removed the VAT from the UK and EU prices of the digital copies of Daisho, Blood Eagle, IHMN Gothic and Thud & Blunder; you can see the new prices by following this link: https://www.snmstuff.co.uk/product-category/wargames-rules/

This means you can now get your hands-on digital copies of many of our rules for less than the price of a popular takeaway.

Please note that the physical books were already free of VAT, so their prices have not changed.  Similarly, VAT does not apply outside of the UK and EU so the prices of our e-books in other parts of the world are also unchanged.

My sincerest contrafibularities

Wow...  Is a 20% tax fairly normal for purchases in Europe?  Not ever having been there, I had no idea it was so steep.

Yep it’s pretty normal

It’s just part of the price, it’s not stated separately at consumer retail outlets. I seem to recall in the states that sales tax was nearly always shown as an extra.

It can be shown on receipts but nearly always as part of the total, not per item.

In Europe, Value Added Tax varies by country and also by type of item or service.

Many items that are seen as essentials are often tax exempt, such as food, diapers, medicines, books etc.

Digital books has been a bone of contention for quite a while now. So it's a relief to have it lifted, and we're pleased that we can afford to pass this saving onto our readers.
