Currently working on the LCT ramp for these to fire off the landing craft during the run in.  ( Accurate Armour).

Fantastic!  There was also the LCT(CB) ('Coastal Bombardment') which was virtually identical and even rarer.  That had a pair of Fireflies up front, for directly engaging bunker-apertures.  Sword Beach definitely had a few of them.  The Fireflies in question belonged to the 'CB Troop' of DD Squadrons, but not every squadron had a CB Troop.

Oh...ok...thank you for the explanation of the markings.  Curious to see that actual work.

I don't think it worked at all in practice, simply due to the impossibility of maintaining a bearing in the heavy seas on the day.  The same was true of the RA's and RCA's Sexton and Priest-equipped Field Regts, who were trying to fire during the run in, but finding it an almost impossible task.

Was just going to say that....but it is an iconic look - I used 1/72 ones on my 1/56th Centaur and it looked OK IMHO
