Very nice.
It's inspiring to get a glimpse into other people's zones.

Done a little more work on my zone in between walking the dog and playing Blood in Space.

Found some Nitrous Oxide cannisters whilst out with the dog, these had been on the road a while and were crushed and rusty. Gave them a quick wash, dried in the oven and a coat of varnish - always nice to have a bit more scatter.

A few days ago I got to thinking about my Zona Britaniya and it's constant winter, constructs in Frostgrave and an image jumped in my head from the film, The Abyss, the bit where water coalesces into form.

So I got the idea of energy seeping through anomalies and forming the surrounding materials into solid form.

Blast through the minis box found some very cheap, naff minis from Arena of the Planeswalkers.

An hour with superglue, sand, primer, wash and drybrush has transformed them into almost identical colour to the gaming mat.

Delboy and Rodney were out patrolling when they spotted some scrap on the horizon and immediately headed for it.

A quick look and all was clear except strange puffs of snow.

As they arrived to survey their prize the place erupted in strange beasts, seemingly emerging from the ice and snow.

You'll be pleased to know they got clean away, but it was close.

Will probably stat these in a similar manner to the Rad Red Ghouls with little tweaks to differentiate, maybe having them appear and disappear during combat.

Going to take a week or two off crafting and painting to get some more gaming in - after all that's why I do the crafting.

Hope you like the work so far.

Put together another encampment, vehicle, stowage and equipment.

Originally I was going for yurts (and I will still consider them that for the purposes of this game) but I used too thick a cloth on the walls which has given them a more solid appearance than I was aiming for - they can do double duty now as huts for other games.

They are made from tuna cans, cardboard, coffee stirrers and old bits of cloth.

Nuclear storage container came with the TTCombat ship I built a while ago.

The truck, oil cans and boxes are from the anyscalemodels.com and were bought a while back for another project I gave the elbow.

Trailer is scratchbuilt from card, dice, sprue and a couple of wheels from anyscale; stowage if DIY greenstuff.

If anyone wants to see the WIP pics then go to my Flickr - the folder is open to view.

Still look like Yurts to me. I think that the thing that throws them off, perhaps, is that yurts often have the same canvas for the roof and walls. Maybe dry brushing the tops with the same cream color of the walls would bring it all back together?

For my .02, they look good as is though. I probably wouldn't fuss with them if they were mine.

You're right. They looked better with the one coat of cheap white primer I gave them just after building.

I will just go with them for now and if I make 2 monocoloured ones later then these can be huts in my fantasy games (waste not, want not).

Made some snow filled hesco barriers for semi-permanent defence out on the ice.

Dave Graffam cardcraft wooden crate, coin glued in bottom for weight, plasterers scrim for outer frame and sand for snow.

Thank you, making these has set me off on a bit of a tangent.

In the zone there are often groups of troops/scientists from foreign parts searching for anomalies, experimenting on locals or just out and out stealing; they will often set up a small base inside Zona Britaniya from which to operate.

I have plans to now build the base - details later as it comes together.

So pursuing my new line of thought about a military presence in the zone I have assembled and painted a load of mdf Jersey Barriers from the bits box - more than I need but I'm sure they'll come in handy.

Also built a cardcraft barracks, pattern free from Genet models - have added a bit of extra weathering and might still do a bit more. Not 100% sure about how this fits in but will make the final decision once everything else is completed.

I've started work on the chainlink style fencing which should be done by the end of the week then there's just a couple more bits to be done.

Continuing with the theme of spending no money I put together 2 Quonset tents for my military base from a plastic container, cardboard and 3 paper towels - quite pleased with the result.

Also needed some non-manmade scatter terrain for the icefield and wanted it to look like the anomaly creatures I painted a while back. Made from scrunched up aluminium foil and hotglue - again happy with the results and will probably make some more later.

Have now finished assembling the fencing for the military base, will post up pics once painted.

Speed painted some kitbashed Zone Hostile Bandits - not great paint jobs but at less than 30 minutes per figure they will do fine.
