First test camo  trial done- no matt varnish so shiny as!
Very saturated palette for more Hollywood style, may well revert to normal for the rest

Heller do (or did) a 1/48th Puma kit.  I know because the bloody things kept coming up in search results on eBay when I was looking for 1/100th Pumas for my South Africans.  So have a look on eBay, but search for '1/48 SA330 Puma' or you'll just get wall-to-wall listings of Sdkfz 234/2 Puma.

Thanks- been trying to track one down but no success yet...
Basically to replicate the photo below

Rather nice indeed! 20mm, 1/72?

Who maketh the patrol boat?
Em dezembro de '81
Botou os ingleses na roda
3 a 0 no Liverpool
Ficou marcado na história
E no Rio não tem outro igual
Só o Flamengo é campeão mundial
E agora seu povo
Pede o mundo de novo

Hmmm, so is that a 1/48 Fujimi Wasp? You lucky beggar, I’ve been hunting one for ages to convert into a Scout.

Bit of progress on the “generic landing craft”
Definitely not one for rivet counting- holds 20odd marines so it’ll do the job

- very jealous of that - though there’s one out in December from S&M

Bit more progress sat in the sunshine
- Landing craft at gloss stage ready for weathering up
- couple of trial boards knocked together - rickety jetty and rusty hulk ( salvaged from water lining the landing craft)

Will keep the boards fairly flat for storage I think

There are several minutes footage of the Argentine "scrap metal merchants" in Grytviken at the start of this Video (in Spanish). First 6 or 7 minutes:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CLvmLBnycHM

Shows how much of the old whaling and whale oil facilities were still standing in 1982, very different to the image above.

Good video that, and yes does show the change well

Photo below was part of original inspiration for getting started
shows the same large factory area still standing in 1982
Newer photos look more like “King Edward point station- which is how I justify some compromise ;)

Bit of colour on some boards - still a long way to go with gloss and dry brush and scrub etc :/
-
And photo of rusty landing craft on the beach in South Georgia- again I’m sure post 1982 but still :)

Compromise is going to be inevitable on pretty much any gaming layout and ending up with something that can be re-used for other games is absolutely the best way to approach it.
I reckon there are 3 or 4 historical Falklands War scenarios that scenery like this would work for, more if you can add in more habitable areas.

I am following your progress with interest, I had been collecting ideas for doing something similar with my 10mm Falklands forces, they are pretty fed up fighting over the same bunch of rocky hillsides and could do with a trip to the coast.

First couple of boards starting to look less rubbish
Slow work putting together the Revell Wessex
Loads of filling and paper clip reinforcing to try and make it strong enough to game with (if it doesn’t take an early flight out the window)
