Argonor's Large Hats and Flashing Steel

I actually thought I already had a thread here, but it seems not...

So, as I have recently purchased Galleys & Galleons

And am busily preparing some templated for it

I thought I'd better start one.

Benn Etton agrees, by the way...

Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

We've played G&G and enjoyed it. Haven't done Flashing Steel, yet...

More please 😊

I shall do my best. Expect to solo play some G&G next week, to get to grips with the rules (and special rules in particular).

Lovely btushwork

Thanks, he was painted quite some time ago for the painting club of this board. I may have to paint him some companions...

You had me scratch my head for a bit there, before I realized that 'Flashing Steel' is also a game title from Ganesha. I used it more as a descriptive of the swashbuckling/pirating/exploring genre, here, but I may well get those rules at a later point, though.

Templates are all done. Looks like shit that I did not mark up circles to cut them from - need to make some nicer ones at a later point.

Couple more pics of the Wind Compass on the blog.

Flashing Steel is not  a finished rulebook (I thought it was severely vague at many pages), but a great fun rulebook. Thumbs up.

I myself am still tempted by Galleys and Galleons. So please tell us more!

I need to play more games, but all in all the sailing/movement/maneuvering works pretty well. As stated, I nee to play more games, but I have some reservations about the combat system - I just don't know how to alter it without writing a whole new set of rules...

Some ideas for amendments here http://www.hksw.org/Files/DBAaaaaaarrrrrrgggggghhhhh.pdf

I've been thinking the EXACT same things about sails and anchors, just did not get around to write something down, yet!  lol

I shall take a closer look at this, for sure, thanks!

Been a while, but I have been painting some stuff for a game at a private event (game has since been cancelled, but I did manage to paint a few minis before that.

This was the first one:

Those look nice. Have you thought about contacting Warbases? I'm sure they could cut and etch some onto MDF for you. They could probably cut out an arrow too, so all you'd have to do is work out how to make it rotate. Who knows they might be able to sort that out for you too?

IIRC I used a couple of neodyne magnets for the movable arrow - one glued to the compass, one to the arrow.

Here is another buccaneer model from Artizan Designs:

The last pirate I finished for Åcon, before I realized the pirates game had been cancelled...

That thing on his forehead is a fleck of fine flock I did not notice before actually posting the pic.
