HLBSC 40mm Napoleonics
« on: April 02, 2024, 08:28:27 AM »
Does anybody know if HLBSC 40mm Napoleonic figures are still available, especially Spanish guerrillas and French hussars wearing the pelisse?

No, I had a chat with them at a show a couple of years back and they explained that they were very old and the moulds didnt work any more.

I'm a big fan of Sash and Sabre as an alternative

Sash & sabre are very nice, have quite a lot of their stuff, but HLBSC did the hussars wearing the pelisse, but only have four of them.

Thought the Perries would have added a few more to round off their 40mm range, not sure why they have not done a mtd British officer, or added an advancing French fusilier in long tail coat.

Not to worry, currently chopping up some S&S to make a pilot Olivenca Spanish dragoon, and sorting out a British mtd exploring officer.

Full coverage can be a bit lacking

I like the fact the S&S are a bit soft too

I've converted a few too including these guys

I like those, S & S are good for converting, and look good en masse. Still playing around with different base sizes, going to try them 6 to a base, 55mm x 50mm.

Very nice, which packs do the 4 officers come from?

Thank you Roger

Officers come from the standard command pack and the officer double pack.  Removing swords and making use of the spare arms from the mtd officer pack add variety. The officer in the Polish command pack is also quite useful.

However, I have always been drawn to the "Charge" rules, by Brigadier Peter Young, while these are essentially SYW they can work well for Napoleonic's and I think would suit 40mm.
Below is an image of a Spanish battalion with 2 companies (16 figures per company, plus officer, SGT & drummer), also shows a few subtle changes to some Perries in order to gain a bit more variety.
