I don't yet have any panzergrenadiers to go with them, but I had a small stack of 251 half-tracks, so I assembled and painted them today.  One of the reasons I like 15mm.  It's dead easy to whip up a platoon of vehicles in an afternoon.

Nice looking half-tracks.  Well done.

Do you have the grunts to go with them?

Nope.  I only have a large amount of Fallschirmjaeger painted up.  I've been adding lots of German vehicles simply so I can do scenarios.  I may eventually paint up a single platoon of basic panzer grenadiers to go with them.  Right now, I simply proxy my FJ as basic Pz-grens because their squad sizes match.

I've developed some 'random force creation' tables that we use when playing Battlegroup - and stupidly used the whole Kursk book instead of just models I own.  So frequently rolling random units in half-tracks.  They'll be good to have on hand.

I added these PSC Steyr Cars today - and heads up, the kit is absolutely awful (at least in 15mm).  You have to hack and chop all kinds of stuff to make them fit...not sure how they let that slip by the initial production process.  Terrible kits.  Shame since I adore the vehicles.  I'm not happy with my paintjob, but they're serviceable.

To clean the taste of the Steyr Heavy Cars out of my mouth I whipped up these two Nashorns - a newer kit from Battlefront.  Superb as always.  I had five, but it's a dual kit that makes Hummels and I don't fancy using much on-table artillery for games (feels a little silly to me, always has), so I sold off three.  Made the last two into these nice Nashorns/Hornisses.

I just worked through the entire thread and that was time absolutely well spend! Your painting is top notch and your collection at this point very impressive and very inspiring to someone with a huge backlog of 15mm WW2 miniatures.

Keep it up, I am looking forward to seeing even more!

Thanks, it's been a fun project.  I don't play BG often enough to really warrant all this stuff, but I have it on hand..so why not paint it.  It's been a process "learning" how to paint 15mm stuff.  Almost all of my original Soviet stuff has been repainted or sold off and replaced as I'm figuring out the tricks and methods to doing it all!

I recently sold off my original Panzer IV H platoon (featured back several pages) because I was really unhappy with the colour.  I had some more from a later army starter box...so I replaced them today.

The original platoon:

You have got some great looking replacements there!

Are the numbers on the turrets decals or painted by hand?

I'm not sure why I buy Flames of War army boxes...because my "box lid of 15mm kits" seems friggin' bottomless right now despite me plowing through kits.

An Ostwind and Wirbelwind for some anti-air cover.

Great stuff Elbows! Almost in the same boat…… I looked at the Battlegroup books, got over excited and started collecting both sides but for most of what was possible instead of being sensible and planning specific forces - which was a mistake! I especially like the fact that not everything is necessarily a tank and smaller even non-combat vehicles have their place on the tabletop.

The Steyr kits is one of the things that may have pushed me over the edge - one thing I can still do is build a small plastic kit, oh accordingly not! They make a lovely end piece but the path to them is simply not worth it  :D (I bought some expensive tiny clamps in a closing down sale and I’m going to try again….)

Thank you for posting,

Andrew

Yeah, I enjoy having as many options as possible, but my neurosis is that I keep selling off and re-doing kits "better".  The Steyr heavy cars were a shame, and yeah...nearly broke me! lol

And now to replace the two Panthers I sold on eBay...three different Panthers.

I had a few sprues of the Battlefront panzergrenadiers on hand, so I mustered up enough to produce a single PzGren platoon (to use the halftracks I recently painted).  Not great sculpts, but they'll be serviceable.

Started re-doing more of my original Soviet stuff, and added a few 3D printed jeeps.
