Thanks.  It's too easy for a Soviet army to become a sea of the same colour green (4B0 I think).  So as you can see from my vehicle bin, I have a handful of units that are painted differently.  With the Churchills I wanted two entirely different unit schemes - and I figured someone would camo-paint their tank...risking a couple years in a gulag.

Been doing a bunch of little weird "finish it up" projects.

Two more Maxim teams and two halftracks - one of which is designated as an ambulance.

This little 1/144 Zvezda Po-2.  A tiny little kit with really poor detail, but it'll do the job.

A little Forward Aid Post (really useful in Battlegroup)  Due to lack of medical figures/casualties, this is simply an officer checking in with the two medics I do have.

The big project yesterday/today was making three defenses - for use as foxholes, trenches, gun or mortar pits, etc.  Basically anything to represent many of the defences in the army lists.

Smaller one is sized to take an FoW scale artillery/AT base.

The other two are each sized to hold three FoW bases - and you can sneak a small additional base in with this guy.

This one also holds three normal bases for infantry or MG teams, etc.

Because the pits are sized for FoW bases they're obviously a bit large and would even be suitable for 20mm figures (which I don't own/use).  Combined with bunkers, I'll soon have a pretty fun defensible area.  Need some barbed wire and some minefield indicators.

Your entrenched positions look great, and speak USEFUL.....I need to make some of these up for 1/144th scale (you're givin' me some inspiration)!  :-*

Thanks.  They're not realistic, but they are made to be useful, like you said.  I couldn't do the stacked earth because they just started becoming way too big.

I may have gotten slightly carried away with the defenses...

A small mortar/machine gun pit, a netted observation post, and a log bunker complex.

The complex has a removable roof for the bunker and spaces for a number of units for Battlegroup.

Starting a small German opfor.  I picked up three of these Panzer IV Ausf. H's from the "Hit the Beach" starter box that my buddy didn't need.  Not...jazzed with my paint results, but they're good enough.  They'll receive decals in the future when I actually get some.

Some great progress there my friend. I really like your bunkers/entrenchments and have done something similar (I love that little log bunker complex and will copy soon!). Keep up the good work.

Thanks, yeah it's nice to have a solid defensive set-up now.  Will be doing minefields and barbed wire to accompany it. It's fun designing the little trench sections...but after this batch I don't want to touch a saw for a bit :D

Well, my Fallschirmjaegers have received more support - waiting on some spray cans to actually knock out the infantry units.

2x Kubelwagens
3x StuG III F/8s
3x Kettenkrad (with drivers based alongside, since mine didn't come with riders)
2x PaK40's with FJ crewmen.

The Fallschirmjaegers have actual Fallschirmjaegers now...the force is growing.  One platoon finished, command and support elements on the way.   Also added a thiccc StuH 42 (which I ended up painting twice because I hated the first paintjob!)

Now I can host small games, or even play solo if I get that bored.  Needed someone to step in front of my Soviets.

I needed a couple of Marders so I kit-bashed some using cheap Axis & Allies miniatures from eBay.

They were a bit of work, but not bad for a simple afternoon project.  They look better at tabletop height.
