Which town name is better?

Of course, in your personal opinion:

Alkali Wells

Guidonpole, Newzona

I like them both so looking for either encouragement or discouragement for one or the other. 

Whichever one gets settled on, it will be my desert southwest town matched by Lodgepole Creek to the north and Anachronism to the east by northeast.

So, which name do you like better?

Truth or Consequences, NM - this is probably most bad*ss western city name there is. 

Still, considering your original question, Alkali Wells sounds better...

Sounds like a consensus to me. 

But commissarmoody's response gives me an idea (wonder what his wife may think?!): Guidonpole can be reserved for the name of the "Hog Ranch" nearest to Fort Des Courage, named after the late Sergeant of course (or maybe a corruption related to F troop?  ).

(Truth or Consequences didn't gets its name until long after the time of the Old West so it doesn't make runner up status - but it does sound like a fun name.)

Regarding East Clintwood - and risking some sacrilege - while we all enjoy John Wayne and his status as "The Duke", I bet we all wish Clint Eastwood made a lot more westerns because, in my opinion, he was a much more badass sort, either side of a badge, and thus a more fun character to run on the gaming table.  Thus, the town name resonates well.

Militia Pete, a curious idea but I think I will settle on the listed name above for the town and use the other for the "Hog Farm" as mentioned.  (For those who don't know the term, that would be where ladies of the evening ply their trade).

After doing some more reading, I will need to make Alkali Wells into more of a town with a main square rather than a long, straight street.
