Metal Persian Miniatures Identification
« on: June 15, 2020, 02:01:27 PM »

Was busy writing a review of the new Wargames Atlantic Persians and was going to publish the review but noticed that in the scale comparison picture I have added the following miniatures which I thought were Wargames Foundry but can't find them on their website? Are these Wargames Foundry or from another company, just so I can label these correctly for usefulness thanks!

I think they might be from the lines that used to be made by Vendel, then sold to Sergeant Major Miniatures. The style is a bit on the bulky side, which the extra-Vendel figs tended to be.

I'll try to find some comparison examples, but here are some pictures for this thread.

Good morning. I can confirm that the officer with sword is definitely Foundry and is from their pack PER025 ( Sparabara Command).  I suspect the spearman is from PER09 (Sparabara Spearmen).  Rather confusingly Foundry have 3 Achaemenid Persian ranges. Two are on their main website and are called something like "old" and new" . The third is on their "Casting Room Miniatures" website. The packs seem sequentially numbered but jump between ranges/websites which doesn't help at all. The "old" range are relatively small ( 25mm?), the new range larger and compatible with their "World of the Greeks" range. Unfortunately not all the packs now seem to be listed. For instance PER025 has disappeared, hence your identification problem! I bought an entire army ( including the elusive PER025) at a 50% discount from them at a show last year, so wonder if they discontinuing packs whose moulds were shot?

Anyway, hopefully the mystery is solved

Big thanks everybody, yes the arrangement of the Foundry ranges is a bit strange and I couldn't find the officer so thought must be another company looks like my initial thought was correct after all. Review of the Wargames Atlantic Persians will be up soon!
