Panzers for Stalingrad (1/48th scale)
« on: August 04, 2009, 09:24:40 PM »
Well folks, it´s been some time since I´m currenty busy interning in a refinery plant and preparing for my move to Hull in September. Finally, though, I got around painting some stuff, and I hope to do some more (in particular, a platoon of infantry and an observation post halftrack) to round out my existing Mid-War Wehrmacht army, which can be found here:

http://www.displacedminiatures.com/Scratchbuilder_Christian/gallery/1534/

First, a Panzer III with the "short" 5cm cannon.

Next, something I always wanted to build for some 15 years, and finally got around doing it, an sIG 33b, which is basically a 15cm heavy infantry gun in a casemate on a StuG III hull.

This "WIP" shot shows the various parts and materials used in the conversion. Dark grey: StuG III Ausf. B (Tamiya), sand: Panzer III M (Tamiya), plus assorted pewter stowage (Chieftain) and plasticard for the superstructure.

Cheers!

Very nice work Chris.  The conversion is great. :)

(By the way, I think you'll find Hull quite a lot like Stalingrad  ;))

Hi Chris,

Lovely work on your models, especially the Sig 33  8)

You have an excellent gallery an it's nice to see a good mid war range in your collection.

Best wishes,

I'm now very inspired to do a SiG33b in 1/56 scale!
