VBCW - Seek basing advice for Brigadier '38
« on: June 15, 2020, 06:14:34 AM »
Hi All,

[This is all 28mm talk.]

I know platoon-level Went the Day Well (WDW) uses individually based 10-man sections as the core unit and Brigadier '38 (Brig) uses those same ten figs to represent a company.

But do folks use those 10 figs in Brig individually based as well? Or do you use move trays?

I ask because I just realized I can use the same size (60mm square) trays for elements in my Warfare in the Age of Madness games and for companies in my Irregular Wars games.

I'm now wondering if I can pull off the trifecta with Brig. Even if I were to use three 60s (one 4-fig and two 3-figs) it would make it a lot quicker to move men around.

The main reason I'm asking is because Brig coherency allows for a rifle company's ten figs to be spread out 28" in open order.

Using three 60mm trays collapses that to 7". *But*, then your now bunched-up chaps are more vulnerable to artillery templates, among other things.

I'd appreciate any advice or other input you can give.

Thanks much,

L

Hello Legion,

I still use individually based figures. I don't play much Brigadier 38, preferring WTDW and using Brigadier 38 simply as a source of ideas/alternative mechanisms. But I haven't seen it played with movement bases, and the factors you've already outlined suggest that it would be unnecessarily problematic?

Thanks leadboy. That's what I suspected.

My preferences and references re: WtDW and Brigadier are as yours.

And thanks for the input.
