I have started a parallel thread - Bronze Age Winter Fantasy- on the Fantasy board (https://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=125554.0). I know that a certain amount of fantasy is ok on this board but as i was not sure where this slightly Runequest/Glorantha and Micheal Moorcock/Rodney Mathews inspired journey was leading i thought it was better to split it.

Once again, this is really cool! Great stuff. I'm jealous too, because my green stuff "skills" are currently limited to beards that always end up too Santa Claus-y  lol

My green stuff skills are fairly limited but i think fur is easy to do. Give it a try, you just have make a lot of little cuts in it with the knife tip. I usually start around the top and then do another row below it and keep moving down

Finished painting the 1st two skimishers.
They represent Etruscan or Italian warriors from roughly the 4th century BC.
The type of bows and quivers is probably completely wrong but as i will mostly be using them for bronze age myth/legend/Runequest/maybe frostgrave/whatever, sort of games it does not matter.

and here they skirmishing with some celts in the mountains.

Finished these two Volscians from Aventine Miniatures. They are built a bit stockier than Perry miniatures for example, but that makes them a joy to paint

Still loving this thread!  Those Volscians and archers are superb. The addition of snow is like looking at this period from a whole new perspective.

I agree, the snow gives ancients a whole new lens. And the figures look fab!

They do look great on those very atmospheric (no pun intended!) bases  :-*

I like the brushwork but I think it really shines on the Aventine Galatians  :-*

I love what you've been doing with the fur additions. I will be undertaking an Hyberno-Norse army next year and will be following your excellent lead.
