Welcome one and all,

The Yarkshire TV Cameras have been out again, this time covering a new set of rules which have just landed in the YG post box.

I've covered the contents of the box and the basis of the rules in the video. Although I haven't played these yet my initial reaction is very positive.

It's been the first time in a long while my 28mm Ancients have been on the table, it was nice for them to see the light of day, I'd even forgotten the Bradford City shirt in my Gallic Cavalry !

Let prattle from me, watch the video.

Regards Ken

I like these rules a lot although I've not had many chances to play.

Now that I see it get be set up for 28mm with the units at least looking a decent size my interest is renewed.

Thanks for posting Ken  8)

I play on an 8x6 and mostly fill the table.  Big units look good.

What I like most about it, however, is the command friction.

One of the things that drew me to it, after a conversation with the author was the flexibility. It has three game sizes Pacto (think DBA) Magnus (think DBM) and Maximus (think proper gaming). Maximus has a typical 6 to 8 base unit size, I am thinking of double ranking my bases for a Grand maximus style  lol

Maximus is all I've played and I share your opinion that it is "proper gaming."  I have maximus sized armies for 3rd century Imperial Rome and early Sassanids.  Most of the early Sassanids would work as later Sassanids but I only have limited proper later Sassanid cavalry.  If I get a full time job anytime soon, I will soon have a maximus sized army for Early Byzantines from Aventine.

I can only fit a 6x4 table in the space I've got but I absolutely agree, larger games are much more enjoyable.

I've got a loads of the Aventine Byzantines- two 28 man units of each of the infantry is my goal. Then on to the Sassanids as I plan to do Dara at some point in the hopefully not too distant future :)
