Only thing I can think of is that Pontoonier Miniatures are a US based company maybe they figure US gamers will plump for them over Foundry etc as all the DA miniature ranges are British made?
Jon, that's a valid point, and it takes 30 days on average to get orders I've made with Foundry to arrive here in the US.

Some of these Pontoonier figs may end up being unique sculpts (and maybe useful for fleshing out collections.....if they don't look too 'unique').

"characterful"

Just thinking aloud, but the sculpting on the linked pics here reminds me a bit of Tiger Miniatures colonials.  Their look has always hit a chord with me - sort of like the look of the old Hinchliffe figures too.

(I mean, if you're sculpting a pile of severed heads - how real should they be made to appear anyway)

In my opinion they look really nice, even better than Foundry..the Force publique Askari poses animated and the casualties useful..I don t like the white clad European officers because the uniform is bizarre quite pulp style and the stances too much caricatural as if they need to depict absolutely bad guys
The main problem, at least for me , is that Pontonier is a very elusive range whose goods are probably impossible to purchase in UK/EU. In the past I tried again and again to order or obtain news about a very exotic range which was the US /Philippines War in 1899 but I never got an answer
