Homemade wargame mat
« on: July 09, 2020, 12:55:24 PM »
Finished making a homemade wargame mat that allows us to build up hills and things.

Heres an ARR of the Battle for the Bumpy Table.
More pictures and what we used to make the mat(cloth whatever..)

Your mat looks great - (and it'll be very useful).

That's this one: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Large-Soft-Warm-Fleece-Cuddly-Teddy-Throw-Sofa-Double-King-Bed-Blanket/331792049984?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&var=540893728347&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

I bought one too. Someone on this forum also used this teddy bear throw to show his 6mm collection*. I asked where he got it and order one myself. I kept and eye on the number sold at the time and, and I guess quite a few LAFers bought one too... lol

* EDIT; Osmoses with his WotR 6mm armies - https://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=121457.0

A CANADIAN local hobby store with a small selection of historical wargames miniatures (mainly from Warlords). They also have a great selection of paint and hobby accessories from Vallejo, Army painter, AK Interactive, Green Stuff World and more.; https://www.kingdomtitans.ca/us/

I dont think the link you have shown is Dunelm one - just so people are aware...Dunelm sold out about a year ago

The Dunelm one looks like this - it has a longer and greener pile

The olive green one shown in your link is this

I have both and they serve very different purposes

Your mat still looks very good

Indeed, it's the A-Express one... like the one on the ebay link. You get to it if you follow the link on Happyhiker's blog

Thanks for the nice comments.

The fleece I bought is different from either of the ones  @Eric the Shed has shown I think.
@Calimero is probably right, I got it from an Ebay link from a Picture of Bloor Heath in 6mm on Peter Pig site, from user usagitsuki(is he the same guy as Osmoses?) That Martin Goddard posted on TMP.

I have linked to the exact fleece, and the paint I used on my blog. But I suppose there's lots of fleeces and lots of paint that will do something similar. The fleece had different length 'grass' on each side I went with the longer one. Its better than Teddy bear fur because you don't have to cut it shorter, or harm any teddy bears.

...or harm any teddy bears.

…plus green teddy bear are noticeably harder to hunt in the summer  ;D

Anyhow, that makes for a really nice wargame mat.
