Start of my Montrose royalist rabble.

These are all Bicorne figures. I've given a couple of the highlanders short pikes/spears as I didn't want too many lochaber axes. Some swordsman, cavalry, Irish and Montrose himself.
Ive seen things you people wouldn't believe - Roy Batty.

. A think a few could be, over his various guises over the years.

Thank you for all the nice comments, I love painting tartans. Having a bit of scotish ancestry in my blood must help i.e Stewart and Douglas granny's and myself called Craig Andrew 😂

Tartans are good, & I am envious as I have a Jacobite army to paint,
but I have to agree that pair of 'ricking, ticking striped pyjamas' (Red trews)
are the bees knees. Well done.

Beautiful tartans! Love the 5 o'clock shadows too.

I'm painting up a Montrose army too. I don't know if they fielded any cavalry, but I'm painting up a unit of moss troopers this weekend.

Excellent stuff. Currently 'thinking about' Montrose's army, but in 15mm, so thanks for the inspiration.

As my armies are 'true' 15s I'm quite pleased that I don't have to go as far as five o'clock shadow - out of interest, how did you do it?
www.keepyourpowderdry.co.uk gaming the British Civil Wars in 15mm, and home of the ECW travelogue - dreadful painting, mediocre prose
