Toy Aliens APC Conversion
« on: July 06, 2020, 05:47:34 PM »
WalMart is currently selling Aliens toys. The APC can be had for $15 USD. It's pretty substantial. The turrets rotate, the large top hatch opens, but the side door is molded on. It may be a little large for 28mm scale, but it's still worth a look.

Here's a comparison shot with the toy APC from Minimates that was available at Toys R Us before it went out of business. The new toy is slightly larger.

Since I'm planning on using the two toys next to each other on the table, I wanted to set them apart. I thought the new APC could be turned into a flyer with a minor conversion. I decided to replace the wheels with "thrusters." Dollar Tree night lights fit nicely as scifi thrusters for the conversion.

I think it does the trick nicely as a flying troop transport!

Great work!

Do they also sell the Aliens and Colonial Marine figures too, to go with the vehicle?

Would love to see those.

The aliens and colonial marines with the line are action figure sized 3.75" [95.25 mm] or 1/18 scale.

Saw these today.

The vehicle and figs are quite large.

The vehicle is pretty neat.  Figs are so-so.  They offer only a few Colonial Marines that I saw, one guy who looks like he's in a space suit, and three alien poses, plus a face-hugger jumping out of an egg (that was pretty neat).  There's also one very large, alien too, which looks to be the "Queen", or "boss", if you will.  Perhaps there are, or will be other packs with the other Marines or characters from the movie, Aliens.

$15 for the vehicle, and $10 for the figure packs, which include two figs each, and/or a sentry gun and an alien.  A decent value, especially for kids, as long as they don't get nightmares from the creatures.
