Hello All,

I could leave all that open space inside the walls empty now could ?

Over the last few weeks I crafted a keep for my castle. While it will not win any awards upon close inspection, at the end I was rather pleased.

Of course now I need the siege towers and siege weaponry to tackle this fortification.  It appears our two knights managed to fight their way to the top of the tower.

a couple of WIP shots before paint was applied.

Nice pink land Camelot!

Thank you and enjoy

Hello All,

Here are a few odds and ends for D&D that have been recently painted.

Our adventuring party is up near Icewind dale.  I wanted a white dragon to throw at them for a random encounter.  This is the White dragon from Splintered light miniatures.

I was still searching for a truly menacing bear mini in 15mm.  I ordered the Copplestone castings cave bears and they are impressive and wonderful sculpts.  They are as big as ogre in size.  I painted this one as a brown bear for our poor character who is cursed as a werebear.  But one more of these will very much act as my Beorn model.  It will be painted up as an impressive black bear.

I needed something for the dwarf cleric to represent his spiritual weapon.  My options in 15mm were very limited as lose weapons in this scale are not common.  I also wondered if it would be too small to handle.  Thoughts of gluing a small 15mm hammer to a base was making my head hurt.

Then, I had this very clever (IMHO) idea.  I would represent the weapon as a actual spiritual warrior wielding a magic weapon.  I grabbed one my my spare dwarfs (I have way too many) with a two handed axe and painted him up as a summoned warrior.  I made the weapon golden to represent the radiant energy.  In its first outing on the roleplay table it beat up quite a few goblins.

"While searching the ruins for a lost dwarven artifact our cleric is ambushed by goblins.  He summons a spirit warrior to even the odds..."

A close up of the pair.  Sing with me "Me an my buddddyyy..."

I might have gotten the idea from my recent viewing of Big trouble in Little China, when the wizards duel with animated warriors.

As always Thank you and Enjoy

Re: Mountain of 15mm Fantasy (Update 05/29/2021 - Laketown Spears 1)
« Reply #77 on: May 30, 2021, 04:28:20 AM »
Hello All,

The first unit of spearmen from Laketown are complete.  These are Splintered Light miniatures from their Dark Age Saxon line.  While the sculpts are lovely, the spears are very bendy and soft.  I foresee lots of adjustment in the future.

Equipped with mail shirts, these are the more heavily armored of the town call out.  I will either keep them as a separate unit or they will act as the front line of the other spear units.

Thank you and enjoy

Good-looking unit of Spearmen, a bright future (due to immense quantities of dragonfire) awaits them.

I have some of those as well. I’m pretty sure I’ll end up cutting the spears off and replacing them with wire.

Hello All,

The men of Laketown continue to gather.  Here we see the more common call up.  These are your basic muster with shield and spear.  Some young some and some old.

Enjoy and Thanks

Hello All,

I am back at the 15mm fantasy after the Battletech detour.  The last unit of spearmen have been added to the Laketown army.  These are Splintered light Anglo Saxon minis.  Only some missile troops to go.

Enjoy

Thank you

The last portion of the army of Laketown is complete.  Hurray!

Several archers stands have been added to the force.  These are splintered light miniatures from their Robin hood and Late Anglo-Saxon lines.

They were a joy to paint. Please enjoy.

Here is the full army.   3 units of spears, armored warriors up front and levy in back, 2 units of warriors with long swords of course, archer units, and Bard with his small retinue.

I do hear the cry of my OCD to paint up two more figures just to fill in the stand.  But the six figures is an elite unit in Dragon Rampant.  I’m good right….he he

Thank you

The are looking really good. I am very impressed with your 15mm fantasy project, there are some really good figures available now (how different to when I started gaming back in the Dark Ages!).

I saw that you are using Litco movement trays.

What size are the round individual bases each figure is on? And where are they from?

I really like the look of you figures.

Thanks,
Skipper
