Tekumel figures
« on: 13 July 2020, 11:33:59 AM »
some time ago I bought some of the lovely Tekumel project Yan Kor figures.
They have finally clawed their way to the top of the painting pile.

They are lovely figures and really easy to paint.
Great to experiment with washes and contrast paints.
Made a nice change while painting 15s.

Next unit done.
Have a used a few more contrast paints rather than washes here. It helps make the figure a lot brighter.

I don't know too much about the Tekumel setting, but from all the miniatures I've seen here over time, I noticed that there are no cavalry figures.
Is that because the setting has no cavalry, or is it because there just aren't any cavalry minis being made?

Tekumel was colonized 60,000 +/- years in our future; Horses are present on Tekumel, but only in small numbers and not in the hemisphere of the Five Empires, where the action is set.

That is "canon". YTMV, as they say.  8)

The Wayback Machine still provides links to the Tekumel pages at the Museum of Role-Playing Games:

There is also Tekumel.com <<< reconstruction is "pending" when the webmaster "has time", or so I undertand.

DriveThruRPG has a whole slew of Tekumel PDFs, some of them free.

Powered by Red wine I got these done last night. Just the weapons and some tidying up to do.
I noticed that the contrast paints really take it out of your brushes.
So have put aside my good brushes and just used a larger cheaper brush.
Not been to anal about where the colour is going just thinking about how the overall figure will look.

I had been wondering whether to dip or not so dipped a couple of samples.

re. the dip. Did you draw off the excess with a brush afterwards, or do you brush it on to begin with?

I brush it on and down the figure to the base.

Finished a small unit of crossbow. After some discussion about what was meant by Yan Kor Green, I am trying this contrast paint.

Justin that is high praise indeed coming from you. I wish I could do them at your quality and quantity!
