New Frostgrave plastics
« on: July 13, 2020, 10:17:09 PM »
Posted by North Star on the Book of Faces, a preview of the next plastic set for Frostgrave: armoured folks.
For all the soldier types wearing more than rags, with the usual range of weapons (and extra bits I'm sure).

Recently bought one each of the basic plastic sets (soldiers I&II, wizards I&II), but looks like I'll wait a little bit longer before assembling those for maximum kitbashing fun. Wonder if there will be a set "II" of these before too long, though the bulk of the armour should already create nice female figures with just a headswap.

What is apparently also on the horizon is a kit of plastic.. demons?! Certainly unexpected, but some potentially very interesting bits in there.

Oh, I had not seen the demons. Interesting...

Armoured soldiers look pretty interesting, should be a useful set.

Had not seen the Demon kit either, but it makes sense as I somewhere read that the first supplement will be about a Demon incursion into Frostgrave...

... I actually googled it to be sure and it shows me an Amazon Link for the book with a planned release in December - even with cover art!

More goodies for the kitbashers  :-*

Interesting to see which way they go with the daemons, frostgrave gives me Tzeentch vibes.

I'm a fan of the bodies, but the helmeted heads are disappointing. The one head looks kind of like a goofy knock off Khorne helmet or a bad attempt at Thulsa Doom impersonation and the other two just look like generic helmets that an infantryman would wear, not what a Knight or Templar would have. Hopefully the other helmets on the sprue are a bit more "specialist."

Cool stuff, putting my orc kitbashes aside, I like some of the gear shown. And those demons are nice, something different to work with that opens a few interesting routes.

Interesting.

Some of the helmets are a bit odd.

Have to admit, after hearing about these a few months ago on Facebook, I'm slightly underwhelmed. I think I get that they wanted to go with a 'non-traditional' take on Knights and Templars, but honestly, I think it's ended up a bit too generic high fantasy.

I would have preferred to see their take on 'classic' Knights and Templars in 12th/13th C inspired helms and tabards, a little like the body the second from left.

Having said this, I will probably buy the kit for the torsos, but it galls me a bit that I probably won't use any of the heads.

The helmets are a NO from me too...I can sort of see what they're trying to do, but it just seems to end up a shapeless lump.

I値l buy a set...but like others have already said, I doubt I値l use any of the helmets... disappointing.

The two handed axe will get plenty of use, but underwhelmed by the other weapons.

I知 torn about the torsos... ironically with 5 distinctive armour variants, I doubt I値l buy more than one box of these, as the same pose/armour will be fairly obvious in larger units...(I知 on box number 4 of the FG barbarians currently as I think they blend well, particularly given the head variants the set comes with).

These are not bad and I will most likely pick up a box as I have picked up all of the other frostgrave plastic boxes.  However I have really gone off plastics just lately.  I like the versatility of plastics but at this point I appreciate the solid weight and level of detail in metal.  Give me a year working just in metals again and I will be back on the plastic.   lol

If the other Frostgrave kits are any indication, there are probably another 5 heads on the sprue. Although I quite like the sallet and barbute options anyway. Wouldn't mind a great helm though, or something like what the metal cultist templar/knight figures wear.

I like them. Period.
And to take this one step further - I really like all of the Frostgrave and Ghost Archipelago boxes. A few heads or a body that I don't fancy that much, won't change that.
So .. I guess Nick will eventually get my money ...

I like them. Not sure I could use the demons but the armored soldiers are definitely on my wanted list now.

I like these a lot. While I'm all for a certain degree of 'historical' realism, I think there's lots of room for stuff that's more fantastical without being too over the top. It's easy to get compatible full helms from Fireforge and the like (and of course there may be some on the sprue).

I can see lots of opportunities for using these heads (and bodies) in more overtly fantastical settings (Glorantha, Tekumel, etc).

The demons look great. The body with the digitigrade legs would be a tremendous starting point for a kitbashed gnoll leader.
