Painted the first stock crew, primarily with Contrast. Gotta crank out 65 crew to support this project so they don't get the slow treatment, at least not for the stock crew.  Also airbrushed base coat and beginning shade and highlight on the beasts.

After four major changes / redesigns I've finally settled on a howdah structure and decoration for the "Far Harad" primitive crew.

Took a break from the big models to paint a few individual figs. These are the Frostgrave GA Tribals converted to be Mahud Beastmasters. The fifth is the "official" figure which will be painted with the King's guard in his colours.

I hear you Brother Abbner. The Godess of the Hobby requires her tribute.

I recall a Forge World Chaos Mammoth conversion in White Dwarf many moons ago. I think that one involved power tools and ironmongery! Tremendous work with a nice attention to detail.

This project is feeling a bit of chore but the work continues. Finished painting the first model sans rigging and the base. (I'm printing bases for the other four but the stock model gets the busy stock base.)

The struggle continues - added base and rigging. Lesson learned: ink the rigging before drawing it taught and tying off. I pulled the rigging and then added thinned ink for color. The ink added a lot of slack to the string and I had to go through much effort to correct it.

Crew for #2 is complete, pics coming soon, and the howdah for #2 is about 50% complete.

That's really impressive work.  Good tip about the inked thread too; one of those things that's perhaps clear in hindsight but you wouldn't necessarily think about at the time.
