Kingmaker medievals compatibility
« on: July 22, 2020, 12:59:21 PM »
Do the Kingmaker miniatures (now owned by 1st Corps) match with Front Rank? I cannot find any comparison pics.
I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.

2019 Painting Challenge :
figures bought: 500+
figures painted: 57
9 vehicles painted
4 terrain pieces scratchbuilt

I did a quick search on the net and found these pictures; the first two are from left to right- Perry Kingmaker and then Front Rank

Although not showing any Kingmaker Miniatures- I thought I'd post the third pic in the event you might need it.

Seconding Atheling's post, I've not found many Kingmaker/Front Rank comparisons, but from what I've seen Kingmaker are a hair taller than the Perry medievals, which are themselves a hair taller than the Front Rank ones.

Quite a few Front Rank poses seem to have bent knees or 'advancing' posture, so it shouldn't be too jarring at a glance!

Plenty of leeway with size differences for anything pre-industrial.

All kit was made as a 'one off'. No such thing as standardisation.

And as for variation in humans...well, just google some images of re-enactors. Or any group of humans for that matter...

Thanks all. I had suspected that the Kingmaker seemed a tad taller, but they also seem to have the beefiness I like that will match with Front Rank quite well.

I’ve mixed both Kingmaker and Front Rank quite happily, sculpting styles are similar and the height variation is slight enough to be acceptable.  I wouldn’t put Perry’s in the mix.

HappyChappy is quite right. I would add, although it's not quite visible in the photograph, Front Rank tend to be chunkiest of all the (quality) Late Medieval Ranges.

Exactly my own thoughts! I aim to follow your advice to the letter in this regard....
