I just love that movie. See the marines take the palace is just an awesome scene. I am considering to revive my old Wind and the Lion project. Which 28mm miniatures would you say would make the best Raisuli and Mrs Pedicaris?

Maybe Jamal from the Artizan Thrilling Tales range?

Unfortunately his headgear speaks more of Arabia than the North African Berbers, but it all depends how fussy you are about such things, and otherwise he is a pretty good Connery.

Askari Miniatures do a few North African Berber types. Nothing in their range immediately jumps out at me for Raisuli (well, not the Connery one, but their Abd El Krim figure would do for the real Raisuli), but it might be worth a look.

Also for a mounted figure there are some options in the Perry Sudan range. You could do worse than the Madhi mounted on a Camel (he looks more like Sean Connery than he does Lawrence Olivier!), also look at the mounted command options and the Baggara horse packs.

Perdicaris was in reality a 64-year-old man. There are quite a few in the Thrilling Tales range that would fit him.  :) On the other hand, one of the ladies from the Foundry Darkest Africa range might hit the spot. They are Victorians, but can easily pass as Edwardians.

None of them are perfect, but might do.

RAFM make a nice Victorian Adventuring lady in their Space 1889 Victorian Adventurer's set. But you would have to buy all of them to get her. She is also armed, which may or may not be a problem if she is going to play the role of a hostage. Otherwise she is an almost perfect fit.

I used her ages ago as Catherine Hepburn playing Rose Sayer for my African Queen games. Sorry, don't have a clearer close-up pic to hand, and there ain't one on the RAFM website.

Thanks Plynkes,

the thrilling tales one is nice but imagine the Raisuli with a big sword. I have three candidates here from West Wind and Foundry, but none of them have a "Sean Connery" look:

Regarding the Pedicaris family I think I stick to the fiction version. As far as I understand there were no action around the real kidnapping of Mr Pedicaris.
I like what I saw on the Foundry link you provided. This looks almost spot on:

I want to game the end fight between the Germans, Americans and Berbers so she should be armed.

Next would be the children...Pedicaris Junior had a real fighting spirit so he should also be armed. I wonder where I can find him.

BTW, nice boat you got there!

I think the one on the right would be better. Having the face veiled gives it more of a Berber vibe.

(Though I still think the Perry Baggara horse fit the bill better - less Arab-looking, just a pity they don't have a pic of the sword-armed ones on their site. If the other ones are anything to go by, they would be great. Still, no pics, so we can't be sure.)

Great suggestions! Isn´t there also a Games Workshop mounted "Desert Dog" holding a two handed sword? He was not in the boxed pack but sold separately. I can´t find him on the GW website though, maybe he is OOP...
