After a weekend of terrain building I was finally ready for a experimental game of homemade not space hulk.
Decided to try out the free FUBAR first person shooter rules that have been languishing on the rules shelf for far too long.
Started with a four man trooper squad to keep things simple. A sergeant one trooper with pulse rifle one with shotgun and one with support auto pulse rifle. Each took two grenades along with carapace armour.
Enemies would be wreck weevils (interrupting) and the main course wreck stalkers.
Much harder than was expecting.
First game whole squad was butchered at the first junction. Bad activation rolls meant the weevils piled up and the stalkers finished the job.
Second game altered the map slightly and changed the victory conditions.
Secure the rooms/spawn points and leave the map by the lift in room three.
Still pretty weevils were knee deep again and only having two actions and no overwatch rule meant close combat was the order of the day. Not much fun for the troopers. Lost the sarge first (again!) Leading from the front rest of the squad were whittled down until only the shotgun guy was left. Got through the whole stack of blips with just interrupting enemy's to deal with but still only just squeaked it. Waded through the weevils and staggered on to the lift as the sole survivor with just a single wound left and oh three spawn points secured.
Great fun.
Anyone else tried the FUBAR rules first person shooter?
Love to hear others thoughts on the rules, problems, house ruling etc .
Now for the eye candy.
Cheers all
