Printable Markers for WW2 Naval Gaming
« on: August 03, 2020, 05:42:18 PM »
A lot of naval rules use markers or blinds for unidentified ships, dummies for semi-hidden movement, and such. As I usually do when I need that sort of thing, I sat down and made my own and decided to include all the major naval combatants while I was at it, so there's two sizes of marker for the Royal Navy, Kriegsmarine, Regia Marina, US Navy, and Imperial Japanese Navy, plus generic Red & Blue markers, all numbered 1 thru 12.

The PDFs are available in both Letter-size and A4-size over on my blog: http://www.warbard.ca/2020/08/02/blinds-markers-for-ww2-naval-gaming/

I might do a second set numbered 13 thru 24 for larger games, eventually, and if there's other forces people would like to see I can include them - the Soviets, perhaps? Feedback here or on the blog is always appreciated!

Thank you for the markers, now downloaded. I don't suppose you have anything for Norway/Norwegian forces?
Cheers,

It would be easy enough to put a version of the Norwegian naval jack on these markers; I'll make a note for when I do the next round.

I think the Free Norwegian naval forces after the fall of Norway sailed under both the RN White Ensign and their own national flag so for most of the war using the RN markers isn't entirely inaccurate.

Don't suppose you're likely to do something similar for WW1?

I'd be willing to consider it. I think only the German symbols would have to change, actually.

RN still uses the White Ensign.
US was still flying the 48-star flag.
Italy still using the same flag.
Japan, ditto.
New German Imperial naval flag in black/white/red.
Add Imperial Russians?
Add French? (would also cover WW2)

That's not a huge amount of work. I'll see what I can whip up.
