New Foundry African Animals
« on: August 10, 2009, 02:59:07 PM »
Just noticed these on the Foundry site this morning:

They look pretty good.

They look pretty good.

They do indeed.  :)

But 12,- EURO for half a hippo? Or three Zebras? Plus shipping?  :(

Will madness never end ...?  :?

My thoughts, Admiral.
I was tempted but not at this price. No way!

Same here, tempted but the price is prohibitive. My plakky Hippos sawn in half to indicate part underwater will have to do and a half eaten Zebra from Mega Minis will suit as well. Almost tempted by the Vultures to add to my Mega Minis ones.  ;D

,HBLS from Northstar or Mega Miniatures maby and the price is a slap in the face.

sorry but for me it looks like foundry losing reality .

It remind me a bit on the ``company that shall not be named``

I love Foundry figures, but I usually wait until there is some sort of deal going on to order them. For instance, the book deal with free shipping. I picked up a few blisters I wanted and got the books too.

Anybody know how Foundry justify such a large postage and packaging cost.
I keep looking at their figures for various projects and they are great.
Then I look at the prices and think “ a bit expensive”
Then I look at postage and think “NO WAY time to look else where”
They must loose a lot of customers that way.

Also while I am moaning about Foundry why is there always one or two useless figures in the packs I want or useless packs in the sets I want?

Just buy your Foundry miniatures from Caliver books. Especially for us mainland Europeans. You pay the normal Pound price and no shippingcosts if you order more than GBP 16.50.

as you i found them not very good on pictures (very small indeed the pics). The hyena look silly (and not accurate for this typical animal), the zebras seem to be babies, the girafe has something unanatomic....
very surprising for a great company but the prices are crazy too. it's crisis now and they follow the path of ...you know !
I'm very disapointed

As splendid as they are, I have to agree with all the previous chat. I have some excellent plastic animals (crocs, zebras, hippos, quaggas, vultures and a huge range of polar creatures). Most of them I've picked up in Museum shops (Australian Museum in Sydney, Adelaide Museum [Aust] for example). It just takes a bit of patience and a willingness to rummage through their stuff.

And all for a fraction of the cost.

Surely there are natural history museums in Europe :o. Or have you eaten all the wildlife? :D

That's quite a nice hint, Buzgob, thanks very much for sharing it!
