Okay... another askari unit added!

Also painted up a couple more Europeans to bring my Schützenkompagnie up to 10 men.

Getting there... slowly.   :D

Think I may do something different next...  ???

I love the vibrant colors. The yellowish-tan is very striking.

Individual that aren't the greatest, but as a mob army, altogether, they are looking fairly good.

Soon, when I have another unit or so finished.

Let's see...

2 x Feldkompagnien (askaris) units
1 x Schützenkompagnie (europeans) unit
1 x Machine gun unit (2 machine guns)
1 x Artillery gun
A bunch of porters

I pretty much have all the figures... just need to put my nose down and get them painted.

Going to take a short break (with a couple different units) though to keep my painting mojo going but will return quickly to finish the army.

Ray,  I am really enjoying seeing this come together. I will probably never get around to doing this period(I'd like to) so its great to see you build your force. They look terriffic too. :)

Thanks Nick.

I'm really enjoying putting them together... I'm really crazy about Africa right now.

Of course I also have a devious plan (which I have not made public) which one day will be unleashed on an unsuspecting world... not necessarily our own.   :o

Yep. Looking very good Ray  :)
Particularly like the character third from the left in the slouch hat. Nice pose, nice looking figure.
Are these Mike Owen sculpts for Brigade?

Yes, that is a Brigade Games figure from the WIAG08 German Askari in shapeless hats pack and sculpted by Mike Owen.

I agree. The look is stunning.

What colors/paint brands are you using?

I'm using my home recipe triad:

- Foundry Base Sand (base color)
- Foundry Spearshaft Light (shade)
- Foundry Base Sand Light (light)

The key color is the Spearshaft Light (the shade) which gives a browner effect to the normally a bit too yellowish (for these uniforms) Base Sand color.

Thanks for the kind words guys and gals.   :)

And yep... these figures from Brigade Games are right up there in detail allowing easy painting and with all the different poses... they look great.

Nope, nothing new of late.

I still have a couple units worth of men and a machine gun to do to finish them.  Not sure when I will return, but I will... one day.
