To be fair they only arrived today….I was just cleaning them up, not that they needed much work.  I’m super impressed with them and looking forward to adding paint.  I’m toying with buffing the crew up a little to look like they are wearing smocks however…..

Yeah, I get that.  Pigeon COUP means something quite different.  A little Orwellian maybe...think Animal Farmish...  :D )

You’ve been learning from has.been…..stop it! 🤨

Ok, so a few more bits of clutter….I bought some hay bales…not quite enough…so had to disguise partially with a strategically placed tarpaulin that masks the bodged framework this covers, but piece made to pop into the hay store above which will give a little firing step for a bit of interest.

The lean to greenhouse is from war bases.   I’ve added a little detailing and intend to find some suitable high walling to affix it so I can fill it out a bit with some grape vines or some such.  My grandad used to do just that, so will be mini homage to him.  I will also be looking to add a few wire trellis lines to a wall section, upon which I can pin some “ trained” fruit trees…just for added interest.

I bought two green houses….will mod the other one slightly differently for a back garden.

Nice work on the chickens, I really like the pigeon house too, my father is having a lots of them :)

Please leave the hay bales out of a ww2 scene though. Old farming equipment (sowing machines, etc) worked by utilizing the momentum of the turning wheels, this is not enough for pressing these kinda rectangular hay bales. The bale presser is driven directly by the tractor engine via a cardan joint. Tractors with these cardan outlets however appeared only in the late 50s in Europe, the older, belt driven baler models were cumbersome and rare, most farmers stacked the bales with a pitch fork, the old school way :)

I looked about and found a few references to be fair….but yes I would agree they would be rare

Yes, there were models belt driven and also with their own engine, but not common in small Normandian family farms :) The farms in the USA Midwest were bigger and had better machinery even back then. Also, cardan driven models are able to press the bales right on the field, you do not have to collect all the hay into one place first.
But enough of negativity, building a hay baler in 28mm would be awesome :)

Maybe the farmer bought the animal food from an other, bigger farm, not every family farm has its own meadow to produce hay.

Yes…I like that reason!

I may just buy a flat bed lorry and pop a few bales on it!  Grand idea!
